As Pop Princess Sarah Geronimo mark her 15th year in showbiz, she could not help but reminisce the time she did not want any part of the spotlight.
In a special live stream by Viva Entertainment, the 29-year old singer-actress revealed that she never intended to become a singer or actress by profession.
“Noong sumali ako sa Star For A Night, parang nag-give up na ako sa dream ko na sumikat, na makilala bilang singer o artista, dancer din minsan-minsan,” Sarah said to her batchmate and friend, Mark Bautista, who interviewed her during the live session.
“Parang ako, sumali lang ako sa Star For A Night for the prize. Kasi, kailangan talaga namin noon [ng pera]. Hindi na natin inisip yung long-term, yung prize lang talaga, makatulong sa family," she further explained. "Hindi ko ine-expect na magtutuluy-tuloy pala, makikilala ako na mang-aawit, ganyan, na artista.”
Sarah was hailed as the grand champion of the singing contest 'Star for a Night' on March 1, 2003, which catapulted her stardom. To commemorate the milestone, Sarah will be having a concert on April 14, entitled: "This is Me', to be held at the Araneta Coliseum.
