- JM de Guzman counts his luck for still having a career after rehab
- The actor is slowly rebuilding his self-confidence
- He confessed that he lost hope inside the treatment center
JM de Guzman has had a troubled past, but he is steadily rediscovering his footing and his place in Philippine showbiz.
The 29-year-old actor is now back with ABS-CBN and is starring in the new teleserye Araw Gabi with Barbie Imperial.
But JM remembers a time when he believed his showbiz life was over.
He was admitted inside a rehabilitation center for the second time and he thought he ruined his second chance.
"Actually tinanggap ko na nung nasa loob ako. Sabi ko, 'Wala na ito, pinagbigyan na ako.' Iniyak ko na dun," confessed JM.
So now that he had a third chance, JM wants to make sure he wouldn't ruin it again.
"Kina-count ko lang talaga yung mga natatanggap kong blessings. Yung love something na ite-treasure ko... masarap siya sa pakiramdam. It keeps me on my feet, it keeps me grounded, motivated, and inspires me to do better," said JM.
He also addressed his fans and thanked them for welcoming him back.
"I've let you down, I'm sorry. No promises, but I will try my best," said JM.
The actor is still undergoing counseling sessions almost every day.
"Kasi slowly, bini-build pa rin namin yung confidence ko from scratch. Kasi lahat before, false confidence," admitted JM.
He is extremely grateful for all the support and acceptance he gets from his network, his handlers, and everyone he works with.
He also advised people who are struggling like he did before to practice humility and acceptance.
"Number one na nakatulong talaga sa akin is humility, humility to accept na mayroon kang pinagdadaanan. Hindi dahil minalas ka or something, dapat mahanap mo yung reason, magandang reason, sa pinagdadaanan mo para may makuha kang gift, lesson sa huli," said JM.
JM de Guzman started his career as a TV model.

He established his acting career in the independent film industry.
He won his first best actor award for the 2011 movie Pintakasi.
In late 2013 to 2014, he underwent rehab for 17 months.
