It could only take one day to change your life forever.
That's what happened to Josh Santana when he decided to turn his back from singing and acting to become a medical doctor.
Known as Michael Pamular in real life, Josh told CNN Philippines that in 2011, his father who was in a hospital asked him about his childhood dream to become a doctor.
On that exact same day, Josh bought a medical exam reviewer, finished it overnight, and decided to pursue his lifelong dream.
"Darating sa point ng buhay mo parang tinatanong mo sarili mo you want to do something different, something more," said Josh in a report by CNN Philippines.
Most Filipinos remember Josh as the singer who popularized Biyahe, the Tagalized version of F4's Can't Help Falling in Love.
He rose to fame during the Meteor Garden fever.
Before that he was also known as Carol Banawa's love team in the early 2000s teleserye Bituin.
He also sang the theme songs of Basta't Kasama Kita and Qpids.
While he was thankful for his breaks in showbiz, he found his true calling in medicine.
"I think nabigyan ako ng tamang mga proyekto, masasabi kong I had the biggest break, to be able to sing theme songs in different TV series especially yung sa Meteor Garden, ang laking blessing nun for me," said Josh.
On March 15, Josh found out that he passed the Physician Licensure Exam and is now a certified doctor.
"Sobrang saya sobrang unbelievable. Noong iniisip ko palang na gusto ko maging doctor para siyang jump from one world to another. Siyempre ang dami kong iniwan ang dami kong trabahong tinalikuran," said Josh.
The former singer-actor said it is never too late to pursue a dream.
"Lahat ng tao may karapatan maging happy sa dream nila. I don't think anyone should be snatched with that chance to be happy in life," said Josh.
Michael Pamular got his stage name Josh Santana from his character in Bituin.
He took an English degree in the Far Eastern University in 2007.
On December 2016, he graduated with a Doctor of Medicine degree in FEU-Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation.
He had two gold records during his career as a singer.
