Angel Bonilla is proud to tell her story in The Voice USA.
She sang Sam Smith's 'Lay me down' on the March 6 episode of The Voice USA.
It was Adam Levine who turned his chair and pick Angel to be a part of his team.
The 31 year-old talented singer joined the said contest and revealed that his real name was 'Carlos' and that he was born in the Philippines.
"As early as five years old, I already knew that I am a girl trapped in a boy’s body.”
“Growing up in a very conservative family, it was very difficult for my father.
When my dad saw me as a girl for the first time, he was puzzled. He’s not sure if I am his son, but he embraced me,” she narrated.
Angel said that he wanted to do something amazing for her father to be proud of her.
That is her reason why she joined The Voice USA.
This was not the first time that Angel joined a prestigious singing contest to represent the Filipinos.
She became one of the 15 finalists for Discovery International Song Competition in Bulgaria way back 2016.
In facebook Messenger conversation which KAMI learned from PEP, Angel promised that she will give us updates about her journey in the competition.
“Medyo mahirap, pero gagawin ko ang makakaayanan ko para makadagdag pride sa Pilipinas," she said.

Angel, who was born a male, could not ignore her feminine soul and strong sense of being a girl. Coming from a conservative Catholic family in the Philippines, transitioning is a bit difficult for her.
Angel is currently residing in Los Angeles, where she is pursuing the dream of becoming a singer.
