With the election D-day nearing, administration Liberal Party President Noynoy Aquino pulled no punches in a campaign sortie for his anointed tandem, Mar Roxas and Leni Robredo, in a campaign sortie with their Ilonggo allies.
In a crowd of health workers at the Sarabia Manor Hotel and Convention Center, Aquino said: "There is no reason for Iloilo and Panay Island not to go 100 percent for Mar." The president was also there as a main guest for the national launching of the ceremony of the expanded human papillomavirus vaccination program.
"Let us take sides with those who should win (in the elections)," said Aquino, encouraging voters. Mar Roxas' bailwick and strongest support base stems from the Visayas area.
Calling Roxas "a true son of Panay", he said that only Roxas can continue the reforms of the government. he also took the chance to campaign for Leni Robredo.
He cited her various achievements as well as the administration's in public health, including the expansion of vaccination programs, and the construction of more hospitals, barangay health centers and stations.
The budget of the Department of Health tripled under the Aquino administration.
Franklin Drilon, a prominent Liberal Party ally, has expressed pride that Iloilo is a Ro-Ro country. He has also appealed to people to go for RoRo.
