- Ormoc City Mayor Richard Gomez was recently a victim of fake news
- As of this post, the said tweet has already been deleted
- Netizens slammed him for allegedly being an irresponsible social media user
Richard Gomez's recent Twitter post became trending because apparently he shared a link of a fake news article.
On February 22, Thursday, the actor-politician shared a link of an article that insinuated that BBC Channel reports of what Queen Elizabeth thinks of the Philippines for having Duterte as President, which PEP reported.
However, it appears that the link came from a fake news website called britana.altervista.org.
The title of the said article: “Queen Elizabeth:Who Would Have Thought That One Day Philippines Will Get A Brave man Like Duterte?- BBC Channel.”
Netizens slammed the Mayor for believing in fake news and for not being responsible on what he shares online.
However, according to MSN, the reason behind his post remains unclear as his account could have been hacked or a result of a virus he had opened.
