Gilas Pilipinas reveals 24-man pool for Olympic Qualifiers

The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas revealed on Saturday (April 30) the 24 players included in the lineup of Gilas Pilipinas for the Olympic qualifying tournament that will be held in Manila this July. The list will be submitted on Wednesday, May 4.

According to SBP deputy executive director Butch Antonio, teams will further trim down their selections in half. After May 4, the next submission of list is on June 20. Teams will need to send a short list of 16 players. The final submission of lineup is on June 27, where 12 players and one reserve will be selected.

Spearheading the 24-man pool is Bobby Ray Parks Jr. The two-time MVP in the collegiate ranks decided to take his talents to the United States last year.  Parks recently played for Texas Legends in the NBA D-League. He is currently in the country and is planning to join Gilas practices in mid-May.

Joining Parks in the lineup are Gilas Cadets Kiefer Ravena, Kevin Ferrr, Roger Pogoy, Mac Belo, and Russel Escoto.

PBA players are also part of the list. Talk N Text is represented by five players, while Barangay Ginebra and Rain or Shine have three each in the pool. Two players from San Miguel are also named to the lineup, while Alaska, GlobalPort, and Star Hotshot have one representative each.
