- The remake of Meteor Garden will soon take the television by storm
- Official posters were released this week
- Fans are excited to see the new cast in character
The Taiwanese series Meteor Garden was the first Asian drama to take Filipino viewers by storm at the start of the new millennium.
It ushered in the era of Asian shows becoming popular TV fare for Pinoys.
Fans fell in love with the Shan Cai-Dao Ming Si love story.
It's no surprise that Filipino fans were ecstatic when it was announced back in November that a new Meteor Garden is in the works and that it will air on ABS-CBN.
On February 9, producers released official posters for the new series.
Take a look at the cast in character:
Meet the new Shan Cai played by Shen Yue. Shen Yue is a rookie Chinese actress who rose to fame in the Chinese drama A Love So Beautiful.
Lovable bad boy Dao Ming Si will be played by Chinese actor Dylan Wang.
The sensitive Hua Ze Lei will be brought to life by Darren Chen of Taiwan.
And rounding up the rest of the Flower Four or F4 are Connor Leong as Mei Zuo and Caesar Wu as Xi Men. Both actors are Chinese.
The first Meteor Garden series cemented the popularity of Barbie Hsu, Jerry Yan, Vic Zhou, Vanness Wu, and Ken Chu in Philippine consciousness.
It was first aired in the Philippines by ABS-CBN in 2003.
The series is based on the Japanese manga Hana Yori Dango.
Other Asian countries also had their own versions. Japan's version was titled Hana Yori Dango after the manga series. It aired in the Philippines in 2008.
The Korean version is titled Boys Over Flowers and was aired locally in 2009. It starred Lee Min Ho and helped launch his international career.
Like all three previous versions, ABS-CBN will also air this new remake.
