- But when he started singing, all people in the studio were amazed
- His life story is even more inspiring
Rodimer Baselotte walked on the stage of Pilipinas Got Talent carrying a doll. He placed that doll on a stool next to him.
But it turned out that the doll was nothing but a prop.
Rodimer performed a highly emotional and enigmatic cover of Freddie Aguilar's iconic song Anak on the February 10 episode of the talent competition.
From the first note of his performance, Rodimer already wowed the audience and the judges. His voice was amazing and his movements evoked showmanship and emotion.
All judges couldn't help but exclaim in praise while Rodimer was performing.
However, the judges almost turned him down before it even started because of the doll.
"Pwede na 'yung wala 'yung manika. Nagdala pa ng manika e," said Vice Ganda.
Vice added that he wanted to push the X button and vote him off the stage because of the scary-looking doll.
Judge Freddie M. Garcia said, "Akala namin horror. Nung gumalaw ka, talagang horror pa rin. Pero nung kumanta ka, doon mo kami pinabilib."
In the end, all judges voted for him to move on to the next round.
Rodimer is a tricycle driver from Cebu. He is 28 years old.
When he was younger, his family was very poor, without a permanent home.
Despite the hardships, he was able to finish his education.
Now he lives with his wife, who is still finishing her studies. He supports his wife's education by working as a tricycle driver.
Every day, he drives his wife to school.
They live in a house without electricity.
He said he wants to win the competition so he can provide for his wife and daughter.
