Pia Wurtzbach is still riding high after winning the Miss Universe crown in 2015.

The passionate beauty queen made sure she did not waste the opportunities opened to her because of her win.

Last year, she co-starred with Vice Ganda and Daniel Padilla in the movie Gandarrappido: The Revengers Squad.

Now, she's working on another movie. This time with Gerald Anderson and directed by blockbuster director Cathy Garcia-Molina.

Because of the sheer number of beauty title holders, most of the time, their spot in the limelight usually just last a few years.

A notable few, however, managed to turn their crown into successful showbiz careers. And that's what Queen P intends to do.

"I really don't want to think what beauty queens say na 'parang trend lang', like the role will last for a year, you should enjoy the reign tapos after that wala," said Pia to entertainment site PUSH.

It comes as no surprise, because the actress-model has always worked hard for her goals.

"I thought to myself na I don't want to miss it, I don't want to waste (opportunities) and I feel like I'm here for a reason so I'm making my most out of everything," added Pia.

Even before joining Binibining Pilipinas, Pia has been active in showbiz. She acted on the teen-oriented series K2BU, the romance anthology Your Song, the sitcom Bora, and the drama series Sa Piling Mo.

She also acted in movies Kung Ako na Lang Sana (2003), All My Life (2004), and All About Love (2006).

It is this career path that Pia chose to pursue even after her historic win in Miss Universe.

For Pia, it all depends on the career choices that beauty queens make. Some chose to intentionally leave the limelight sooner rather than later.

"I think that's why a lot of girls do not seem to be in the limelight anymore. It's their decision that they don't want to go back to their career, or maybe they want to start raising their family or they wanted to venture into something else.

"It's their career path, I think. It's not just showbiz that makes them successful naman. It's the career endeavor," explained Pia.

Pia started her modeling career using the stage name Pia Romero. She began acting and modeling at the age of four.

It took her three tries in the Binibining Pilipinas pageant before she won the opportunity to represent the country in Miss Universe.

She is the third Filipina to win the title of Miss Universe. She joined the elite company of Gloria Diaz who won in 1969 and Margarita Moran who won in 1973.

She was born in Germany to a German father and Filipina mother.
