- Actors Gladys Reyes and Christopher Roxas met and fell in love in their teens
- Recently, they renewed their vows after 25 years together
- They share the secret to their enduring love
Gladys Reyes and Christopher Roxas has proven that young love can mature into an everlasting relationship.
On ASAP's segment called TLC, the couple shared how they managed to continually grow in love from the moment they met thanks to their strong faith in God.
"May mga stage sa buhay natin na minsan hihinga ka, sasabihin mo, 'Kaya ko pa ba 'to?'" confessed Gladys.
"Pero kapag nanaig 'yung faith niyo, 'kailangan i-work out natin 'to,'" said Gladys.
For his part, Christopher said he's thankful that Gladys is very patient with him and continued to believe in him.
Indeed, their spirituality made their relationship all the more stronger as they went through their puberty, young adulthood, and married life together.
But they also know that they still have a lot to go through as a couple.
"Mula bata pa kami, lumaki kaming magkasama, na-develop, nakabuo ng pamilya, continuous journey ito eh," said Gladys.
For all that they have been through, Gladys always thanks the Lord.
"Salamat sa Diyos kasi baka siguro mabuting tao ako kaya binigyan niya ko ng too good to be true na makakasama sa buhay," said a tearful Gladys.
It may have also been a lot of luck for both actors, because at a very young age, they already knew they want to spend the rest of their lives with each other.
"Noong nanligaw ako sa kanya alam ko sasagutin niya ko e. Hindi conceited 'yon, ang tawag dun parang... alam mo lang 'yung feeling na nakita mo na 'yun," said Christopher.
"Dati pa alam ko na e, when I met him, I'll be spending the rest of my life with him," confirmed Gladys.
The couple met in 1992 on the set of the modern classic teleserye Mara Clara. Gladys was 14 years old and Christopher was 12.
But like all couples, it wasn't always smooth-sailing for the husband and wife.
Seven years into their relationship, they decided to temporarily break up for one and a half months.
"Gusto ko lang siyempre sumubok ng buhay na binata na nawala kasi masyado kami maaga na napunta sa relationship namin," said Christopher.
But, thankfully, the actor realized what he had before he completely lost Gladys.
"Anong ginagawa ko? Hindi mo alam na 'yung importanteng bagay pala na sa'yo na. Bumalik ako," recalled Christopher.
And their reunion was worthy of a scene in a movie.
"He arrived sa house, nasa ulanan siya. Parang taping! Ayoko talaga siyang papasukin kasi para sa'kin tapos na," said Gladys.
But eventually, Gladys softened her heart and let Christopher in so they can talk.
It's a good thing, too, because after 11 years of being boyfriend and girlfriend, they finally tied the knot.
They got married in January 2004 and have four kids.
This year, the couple reaffirmed their commitment to each other by renewing their wedding vows.
They marked their 25th year as a couple on January 23, 2018.
