- Kris Aquino's last relationship was with Quezon City mayor Herbert Bautista
- They broke up because of political complications
- Kris now says her endorsements also affected their relationship
Kris Aquino revealed to GMA News another reason for her failed relationship with former flame Herbert Bautista.
Kris said there are penalty clauses in her "multinational" endorsements that will complicate their relationship if they get married.
"To be perfectly honest talaga, several contracts have provisions that if you end up with an elected official, may penalty from the multinationals because of the money trail. It will appear that they are paying somebody in elective office," said Kris.
Herbert Bautista is the incumbent mayor of Quezon City when they were dating.
Kris also differentiated it to the situation when her brother Noynoy Aquino was the president.
"Dati kasi nu'ng kay Noy, okay 'yun kasi hindi conjugal eh. Magkapatid kami pero we shared nothing. Pero ito, if we (me and Herbert) end up together, or even if I announced na, let's say engaged, soli.
"At hindi lang soli ah. Soli ng pera ko na binayad sa akin, soli ng production cost and may penalty clause pa du'n sa mawawala sa kanila," explained Kris.
She even added that it will also affect people working for her. If she ended up paying a lot of money to the multinationals, their jobs would be in jeopardy.
"Yes may computation ako kasi production cost eh. Ako tapos lost air time. Because they buy it for the year. So sabi ko, 'Oh my God ilang Chowking ang ibebenta ko para mabayaran ang penalty. Kaya that's why, let's just be friends," added Kris.
Kris and Herbert dated in 2014.
However, due to complications and political issues leading up to the 2016 elections, the couple chose to break up.
They remained good friends until now.
Before entering politics, Herbert was also a comedy actor.
