- Almost all Filipino families have at least one member who works abroad
- OFWs not only provide for their own families, but also help the Philippine economy
- The POEA said thousands of jobs have opened up for migrant workers abroad
Filipinos who want to try their luck abroad are in for some good news this year.
According to a GMA News report, New Zealand, Japan, and Taiwan have thousands of job orders for skilled workers.
The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) said 33,000 jobs are available in New Zealand for migrant workers.
The country is looking for nurses, caregivers, engineers, architects, teachers, and construction workers.
POEA added that the monthly salary can get as high as P100,000 or more.
Meanwhile, there are 80,000 jobs available in Japan for health industry workers.
This is thanks to the Japan-Philippines Economic Partnership Agreement (JPEPA).
POEA is also expecting that it will be easier for OFWs to get hired in Japan because the Technical Intern Training Program will start soon.
Lastly, there are 80 job orders in Taiwan for technicians, bakers, cooks, food analyst inspectors, machine operators, and construction workers.
Monthly salary in Taiwan ranges from P20,000 to P30,000 or more, according to an ABS-CBN report.
While opportunites are opening up, the POEA reminds applicants to be wary of illegal recruiters.
