A woman in Connecticut, USA got married in a hospital bed on December 22. And then 18 hours later, she succumbed to cancer.

Time reported that Heather Mosher, who was battling cancer, wed the love of her life David Mosher at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford, Connecticut.

A photo posted by Heather's friend on Instagram showed the bride wearing her wedding gown and an oxygen mask. She said her vows while lying on her hospital bed.

According to Christina Lee, her dear friend had been battling stage 4 cancer. She said it had already spread throughout her body.

The photo captured a triumphant moment for Heather as she raised both her arms in the air after getting married to her soul mate.

Reports said Heather died the next day.

Her husband David said her vows were some of his wife's final words.

"It was just like surreal because I'm supposed to be exchanging vows to her and here I am saying goodbye," said David to ABC News.

Heather met David at a swing dance class in 2015 and they fell in love.

According to Time, David arranged to propose to Heather on December 23, 2016. But on that day, Heather was diagnosed with cancer.

Despite that, David decided to push through with the proposal. He asked Heather to marry him as they rode a horse-drawn carriage.

"I said to myself, 'She needs to know she's not going to go down this road alone,'" said David as quoted by Time.

David and Heather were supposed to get married on December 30, 2017, but her doctors encouraged them to do it sooner because Heather's cancer had already spread.

Heather had to be put on a ventilator.

The couple got married in the hospital chapel. Family and friends helped Heather put on her wedding dress and a wig.

She was buried on December 30, the original date of their wedding.
