- An American woman went into premature labor on New Year's Eve
- Her twins were born 18 minutes apart
- The first was born in 2017 and the second came out in 2018
Imagine being twins but not sharing the same birthday, birth month, or even birth year!
That's what happened to two young babies in California, when their mom, Maria Flores gave birth to them in different years!
According to ABC News, Flores was supposed to give birth to her twins on January 10, 2018 through Caesarian section. However, she went into premature labor before the end of December 31, 2017.
Her son, Joaquin, was born on 11:58 PM on the last day of 2017. While her daughter, Aitana, was born on 12:16 AM of January 1, 2018.
Their aunt, Aurelia Perez Rios, shared photos of the newborn twins on Facebook.
The fraternal twins were just 18 minutes apart, but it seems like they're from different years.
Joaquin is the last baby to be born in 2017 at the Delano Regional Medical Center in California's Kern County. And his twin sister, Aitana, is the first baby born in 2018 at the same hospital.
The extraordinary situation proved to be a double blessing for the family.
According to Daily Sabah, Ontiveros and her husband were gifted $3,000-worth of baby supplies which were donated to the hospital by local community groups.
Flores is now a mother of five.
