Kris Aquino gets honest about being let go by ABS-CBN: “I think it was my fault”

- Kris Aquino was not given a new offer on ABS-CBN after coming back from her leave in 2017

- Kris’ negotiations with Willie Revillame to do a show together also fell apart

- The actress-host shared her thoughts about her career struggles last year

Kris Aquino opened up about the career struggles she faced last year when she was unable to get back to the Kapamilya network after taking a leave.

KAMI learned from Kris’ interview with People Asia Magazine that she did not sign the contract with ABS-CBN before taking a leave because the Abu Sayyaf was threatening her and her family.

“With ABS-CBN, I think it was my fault because when the contract was there, I should have signed it.

“It was a two-year deal guarantee and I didn’t sign it then. I didn’t sign at that point because that whole threat was real,” Kris said, as quoted by PUSH.

When Kris came back from her leave, there was no more offer from ABS-CBN for her to have a new show.

She tried getting back to television in other ways– particularly with Willie Revillame on GMA – but those plans fell apart.

“Ang kapal ng mukha ko, I really asked God to please give me another chance,” she explained.

However, Kris decided to continue the fight and find her own way of succeeding.

“I felt that if you’re closing avenues on me, I’m going to create my own skyway…

“Then you’ll realize that you cannot reinvent yourself by working with the same team. You have to go higher and team up with a new team that’s really young.

“Who is online? The millennials. They’re young,” the “Queen of All Media” stated.

Despite not being on TV anymore, Kris is still earning as much as she did before through her social media projects and endorsements.

She endorses over 20 brands including SM malls, Chowking, BDO, National Bookstore and PLDT.

Kris is also set to appear in the Hollywood movie entitled “Crazy Rich Asians.”

The movie was directed by Jon M. Chu, the director of “G.I. Joe Retaliation.”
