INC enters Guinness records anew through charity event

The Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC or Church of Christ) was recognized by the Guinness World Records anew for breaking four records through a charity event held last Friday at Moriones, Tondo, Manila.

The influential religious sect broke the records in giving away free 200,000 goodie bags, 17,526 pairs of shoes, and 241,200 clean pieces of used clothing in the charity even titled “Lingap sa Mamayan” with a theme “Fight Poverty.”

The said event was also responsible for breaking the record for the most number of successful conducted medical risk assessments at 4,784 and a record of 7,000 ultrasound examinations, both lasting eight hours each.

INC General Auditor Glicerio B. Santos Jr. said, “We’re, of course, very proud of the new world records, but more than those achievements, what’s truly important is the opportunity to serve our brethren in Tondo, Iglesia member or not.”

Representatives from Guinness were present to verify the world-setting feat of INC. INC now has a total of 18 records listed and recognized by Guinness.

Some of the records held by INC are the largest charity walk done within 24 hours in multiple venues, the most number of hunger relief packages distributed in eight hours in a single venue, and the largest indoor theater for the 55,000-seater Philippine Arena.
