HIGHLIGHT – James Reid and Nadine Lustre, collectively known as JaDine, were surprised to find out about the potential box office wars between their movie "This Time" and the John Lloyd Cruz-Jennylyn Mercado starrer “Just the 3 of Us".
Both movies will be opening in theaters on Wednesday, May 4.
John Lloyd and Jennylyn's first pairing was supposed to be shown on April 27. However, the film's producer, Star Cinema, announced last week that the original release was moved.
JaDine said they do not want to play up any box office issues because they are all working under the same network, entertainment site Push reports.
“It’s a first time experience so I really don’t know how to react. But I’ve always believed in healthy competition. Of course, we’re surprised as well,” said James.
Nadine added: “We’re happy naman po, siyempre si Kuya Lloydie naman po ‘yon. I mean, we’re not competing naman po with anyone. We’re just really excited and happy po sa ‘This Time'" (We’re happy though, that’s Kuya Lloydie we’re talking about. We don’t want to look like we’re in competition with anyone. We’re just really excited and happy for ‘This Time.')
The real-life couple is also grateful to their fans for setting up numerous block screenings of their movie.
“Sobrang thankful talaga kami. Bukod don sa isang fan group na 'yon, marami pang ibang magpapa-block screening. Happy talaga kami sa suporta nila,” Lustre said.
(We’re super thankful. Aside from that fan group, there are also many other fans that are arranging block screenings. We’re very happy for their support.)
“This Time” is a story of childhood best friends Coby (James) and Ava (Nadine). After being apart for a long time, they find themselves reunited one special summer and discovered that they have been in love with each other ever since.
The movie is written by Mel Mendoza-Del Rosario and directed by Nuel Crisostomo Naval.
