Wagi parin! After being pulled from some cinemas, 'Ang Larawan' still won the Best Picture award in the MMFF 2017

- Days after the start of showing of MMFF 2017 movies, 'Ang Larawan' was already pulled out in some cinemas.

- Actors and Actresses of the movie reacted hoping that it would still be shown once again.

-'Ang Larawan' still bagged the Best picture award for the 2017 Metro Manila Film Festival.

KAMI learned from PUSH that the movie of Paolo Avelino and Rachel Alejandro 'Ang Larawan' unexpectedly won the Best Picture award even if the movie is not showing anymore in some theaters.

Netizens called it unfair and that the movie should still be shown.

Even the broadway Diva and The Voice coach Lea Salonga tweeted about this issue

The decision was made after seeing first-day sales. The action of pulling out the Musical 'Ang Larawan' was with the consent of the producers.

But it was with an agreement with mall owners that they will bring it back in cinemas on January 1 according to MMFF spokesperson Noel Ferrer.

Ferrer explained that the producers of the musical met with some mall owners after the MMFF opening day and agreed that the movie may not have an audience in some areas.

However, it was doing well in some cinemas such as Rockwell and Ventris North Cinemas.

"Mayroon talaga extreme scenario na mismong mga producers ay makikita nila na, 'Ay, hindi namin market iyan.' Kaya ibinibigay na rin nila iyong mga theaters," he said.

Aside from bagging the 'Best Picture' award, 'Ang Larawan's' Joanna Ampil was awarded as the Best Actress.

This year's Metro Manila Film Festival awards Night was held December 27, at the KIA Theatre.
