President Duterte finally breaks his silence on Paolo Duterte’s resignation as Davao City Vice Mayor

President Rodrigo Duterte has opened up about his son Paolo Duterte’s decision to step down as the vice mayor of Davao City due to personal issues.

KAMI learned from ABS-CBN News that Duterte does not mind Paolo’s resignation as long as he believes that he is doing the right thing.

"Sabi ko sa kanya, ‘Ikaw. You are in a position to do what is right. Kung ano lang ang tama sa iyo, gawin mo.

“I never suggested any resignation. Sabi ko, ‘Ikaw, you…’ Siguro ‘yung sa anak niya, ‘yung pictorial at ‘yung --- Baka nasaktan din siya noong ‘yung mga insinuation…

“‘Let the people decide. But if you think that there is a better [way] to do it, do what is right.” ‘Yun lang,’” the President explained.

In his official statement, Paolo said that he is resigning from his office due to his problems with his first wife, his alleged involvement in shabu smuggling, and his public spat with his daughter Isabelle Duterte.

Paolo is the eldest of President Duterte’s three children.

Inday Sara Duterte, Paolo’s sister, is the Mayor of Davao City.

Paolo’s current partner is January Navares, whom he has three children with.
