Some of your favorite local celebrities have been through tough times in recent years, especially those who are facing imprisonment. And before the year 2017 ends, let’s take a look back at some of the celebs who have celebrated Christmas in jail.
Christmas is the most special time of the year where you often spend it at home with your loved ones. Unfortunately, KAMI learned that not all of your favorite celebrities were able to spend the holidays at home and with their families.
Listed below are the celebrities who have remained in jail this holiday season.
1. RJ Bautista
Bong Revilla’s stepbrother, Ramon Joseph “RJ” Bautista, was not able to spend the holidays with his family at home after the court denied his bail petition. According to PEP.ph, RJ is the prime suspect for the murder of his elder brother Ramgen Revilla on Oct. 28, 2011.
2. DJ Karen Bordador
Celebrity radio DJ Karen was arrested in August 2016 during a buy-bust operation carried out at her boyfriend’s condominium unit. Authorities found almost P3 million worth of illegal substances in the place.
She and her boyfriend, Emilio Lim, are currently facing several charges in connection to illegal substances.
3. Krista Miller
Just like DJ Karen, starlet Krista Miller was also arrested in a buy-bust operation in October 2016. She was caught in the act of selling P3,000 worth of illegal substances to a police who posed as a buyer.
4. Sabrina M
Starlet Sabrina M was also arrested in a buy-bust operation in Brgy. Pasong Tamo, Quezon City in September 2016 and P6,000 worth of illegal substance was found with her. She is currently facing charges in connection to R.A. 9165.
5. Dennis Roldan
Veteran actor Dennis Roldan was found guilty in the kidnapping case by the Pasig City Regional Trial Court in August 2014. Dennis reportedly took part in the kidnapping of a Filipino-Chinese boy in 2005.
Dennis was convicted with reclusion perpetua or 30-year imprisonment and P300,000 worth of fines such as civil indemnity, moral damages and exemplary damages to the victim’s family.
Meanwhile, KAMI has previously reported that former Senator Bong Revilla was granted a 10-year Christmas furlough, which allowed him to spend Christmas Eve with his family at home. While former matinee idol Mark Anthony Fernandez was freed from more than a year of imprisonment after the transportation of illegal substance case was dismissed.
Former Senator Jinggoy Estrada, who has also been involved in the 2014 PDAF scam just like Bong, also gained freedom following posting the P1.33 million bail. Bong and Jinggoy are both facing plunder and graft cases.
Even though Bong, Jinggoy and Mark Anthony were able to spend Christmas time with their families, there are some celebrities who weren’t able to celebrate the birth of Jesus with their loved ones.
