Alma Moreno and late actor Rudy Fernandez son, Mark Anthony Fernandez, has received the best Christmas gift this year — freedom. Based on several reports, the former matinee idol has been released from Angeles City Jail in San Fernando, Pampanga on Friday, Dec. 2.
From what KAMI learned, Mark Anthony was released following the dismissal of his transportation of illegal substance case. But according to PEP.ph, the misdemeanor charge still remains.
As of writing, the 38-year-old “Ma’ Rosa” actor has reportedly refused to give any statements because he wanted to rest first and be with his family this Christmas. His family is also mum over his release but they admit it is their happiest Christmas together.
Mark Anthony’s stepdad Joey Marquez, however, expressed his happiness over his stepson’s freedom. Joey also revealed that he had talked Mark Anthony, who was asking for a blowout.
“Alam mo, sa tingin ko, dahil sa prayers iyan at saka sa mga bagay na...” Joey said during an interview at Muntinlupa Sports Center before the MMFF 2017 Parade of Stars started. “Ang dami sigurong nananalangin na sana, ‘wag matuloy kung ano man yung ibinibintang sa kanya.”
“Isa ako sa pinakamasaya sa nangyari ngayon,” the veteran actor added. “In fact, kanina ko lang nalaman. Kaya medyo... sabi ko nga, eh... nakausap ko siya, sabi niya, ‘Tito Joey, blowout mo ako, ha?’ Sige! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Kung saan mo gusto.”
Apart from Joey, Mark Anthony’s ex-girlfriend Claudine Barretto also expressed her happiness and excitement for his release from prison via an Instagram post, GMA News noted.
Meanwhile, Mark Anthony was arrested for transportation of illegal substance when a one-kilo brick and a smaller amount of abused substance cannabis were found in his car.
The illegal substance was found during an anti-criminality checkpoint along MacArthur Highway, Rappler reported.
Mark Anthony admitted to being an illegal substance user. In fact, he struggled with it in the past and has undergone rehabilitation but he denied the ones found in his car in October 2016, saying it was planted by someone else.
