Former childstar-turned-singer Aiza Seguerra has long been out as a lesbian. But now, Aiza is urging netizens on Instagram to respect his gender preference as a transgender man or transman.
From what KAMI learned, the 34-year-old National Youth Commission chairman posted a message on Instagram reiterating his gender preference as a transgender man. The post was published on Wednesday, Dec. 20 and was addressed to his family and friends.
“Dear Family and Friends, I am a TRANSGENDER MAN,” he wrote. ““Ibig sabihin, I identify myself as a man. Gets? TRANSMAN po yun.”
The former childstar also reiterated that it has been years since he first came out and he has revealed his gender preference thrice already. As per PEP.ph, he first admitted being a lesbian in 2012 and came out to the public as a transman in 2014, the same year he married actress Liza Diño.
Apart from reiterating his gender preference, the “Pagdating ng Panahon” hitmaker also reminded the netizens to refrain from addressing him with pronouns that identifies the female gender. He added that he hopes people, especially his family and friends, will respect his request.
“This is just a reminder. PLEASE REFRAIN from calling me ATE, TITA, SIS, NINANG (mga inaanak, subukan niyong tawagin akong ninang, I swear wala kayong regalo sa pasko), SENYORA, MA'AM, at ang favorite ko sa lahat MADAME,” he stressed. “Huwag din po gamitin ang she, her, at kung ano pa.”
As for those who do not understand, the singer said that they could send him a private message and he would explain everything to them.
“This is how I see myself and I would appreciate if people around me, especially family and friends, will respect that,” he added. “If you do not understand kung ano ang transman, PM me and I will gladly explain.”
Meanwhile, the award-winning OPM artist also revealed that he is no longer Aiza Seguerra. In fact, he has changed his name into Ice.
“Also, please CALL ME ICE,” he concluded his post. “Yes. ICE. Yun lang po. Maraming salamat!”
Aside from Instagram, he also posted the same message on his Facebook account. According to ABS-CBN news, his post has been praised by his wife.
“At least this time around, sya na nag-out sa sarili nya hindi ako. hahaha! So alam na this---ICE SEGUERRA. Not Aiza, not Aiz. Just ICE. How "COOL" is that?” Diño commented on Facebook.
