- Kylie Verzosa forms online support group on mental health
- She then admits suffering from depression when she joined Binibining Pilipinas
- She said that the best way to deal with it is to seek for professional help
KAMI learned that Kylie also suffered depression. Inquirer previously reported that Verzosa, who herself battled clinical depression in 2014, said the “Mental Health Matters” Facebook page, which she created with her sister and “a few good people,” aimed to share information on mental health issues such as depression, anxiety and bipolar disorder and to provide emotional support to those who suffer mental illness.
Kylie shared what she felt when she was struck by depression. The 25-year-old beauty queen said she had been “doing well in my career, when I was modeling before.” Then, “it just hit me, and I didn’t understand what I was going through,” she told the Philippine Entertainment Portal during her signing to Viva Artists Agency.
“I had no will to live anymore. Very dark, very dark yung life ko,” she shared, even if she kept appearing “everything was going okay.”
“But deep inside parang I didn’t wanna be here.”
"I decided to go through it naturally, but the best way is to always ask for professional help,” she said.
“Minsan kasi we just really need someone to talk to, to give us professional advice. So that’s where the psychiatrist or therapist comes in, and then, taking the proper steps to heal.” she added.
According to the reports, DoH and WHO stated that there are more than 3.29 million people in the Philippines are living with depression and an almost equal number of individuals are suffering from anxiety. Depression is a leading factor in suicide. There are 800 000 people die due to suicide every year. Suicide is the second leading cause of death in 15-29-year-olds.
Kylie Verzosa is a Filipino teacher, model and beauty queen who was crowned Binibining Pilipinas International 2016 and Miss International 2016. She is the 6th Filipino to win the crown of Miss International. She is also a photographer. Through her determination for the organisation and her advocacy, her reign as the winner has been very productive and was labeled as the most traveled Miss International.
KAMI wants to remind you that depression is not a joke. If you know someone who is suffering from this, do everything to keep them company.
