Actor-turned-politician Richard Gomez is definitely one overprotective father after warning his only daughter Juliana about dating and men.

That is why Richard shared his sentiments on being a father to a teenage girl at the opening of his first solo art exhibit titled, “Surface,” at Pinto Art Museum in Antipolo City on Sunday.

From what KAMI learned, Richard stressed that daughter Juliana is still not allowed to have a boyfriend because she is just 17-years-old. The 51-year-old actor-politician even warned his daughter to cut down her hair if she will ever have one.

“Huwag ka munang magbo-boyfriend, kakalbuhin kita!” Richard warned his daughter, as per PEP.ph. But the actor clarified by saying, “Bawal pa! Bata pa kasi. Seventeen pa lang!”

Even though Juliana has not been given a "go signal" yet, Richard admitted that he knows there are guys who wanted to date his daughter. He also revealed that his wife, Lucy Torres, also warned about his daughter’s suitors, which often make him feel sick.

“Every once in awhile, alam ko, may nanliligaw,” he added. “May umiikot sa gilid. Sabi ng mommy niya, ‘Alam mo ba na maraming nanliligaw sa anak mo?’ Sabi ko, oh, my God! Eto na po! Eto na yun!”

But just like any dad, Richard’s sentiments toward his daughter’s love life is seemed understandable. And according to Lucy, she also feels Richard is not yet ready to see his daughter having a boyfriend.

“I think, any father kasi, hindi talaga handa,” Lucy said. “Ang palagi kong sinasabi kay Richard, it’s inevitable.”

Lucy added that she always reminds about such issue, stressing that she does not want Juliana to fear love. She also explained that at some point in time, Juliana will experience it and she hopes she will find the right man.

“Ayoko namang lumalaki si Juliana na may takot,” Lucy said. “Kasi, it’s not a bad thing. It’s a beautiful thing—to fall in love, di ba? Na may manliligaw. It’s part of a girl’s life.

As to what advice does she give Juliana, Lucy revealed telling her daughter that she should not rush anything.

“I always tell her, ‘Huwag kang magmadali,’” the 43-year-old Leyte representative said. “No reason to just have one boyfriend when you can have many, many friends!”

Just like Richard, Lucy is also not ready to have grandchildren yet, saying Juliana is only 17.

Meanwhile, Richard recently showcased his another artistic side when he held his first solo art exhibit at the Pinto Art Museum in Antipolo, Rizal. According to ABS-CBN News, the exhibit is for the benefit of the children of Ormoc City, where he serves as the city mayor.

Richard revealed that the funds from the exhibit will be used to build a playground for the children in Ormoc City.

Meanwhile, as Richard and Lucy prepare themselves for the inevitable, KAMI would like to share a video about having Filipino parents. For more videos, check out KAMI's official YouTube channel.
