- Jericho Rosales stressed that wearing beach attires for a role does not bother him
- Echo explained that wearing two-piece swimsuits should not be uncomfortable unless malice is added
- Kapamilya star revealed the difficulties he encountered during filming
As the premiere of his upcoming MMFF 2017 entry looms, Jericho Rosales opened up about his thoughts on the costumes or attires he has to wear for a role. According to Echo, if he needs to wear a two-piece swimsuit for a role, then he’s more than willing to do it.
Many said that Echo was the perfect fit for the role of Diego, who was the surfer love interest of Laura (Erich Gonzales) and Abi (Jasmine Curtis-Smith), KAMI learned. Speaking of his co-stars, Echo explained why it was not awkward for him to see the girls wearing only swimsuits.
“Kapag nasa beach ka, ang pagsusuot kasi ng [two-piece] ay nasa konteksto lang ‘yan eh,” Echo explained. “If you’re at the beach there’s no problem na mag-two piece ka.”
However, Echo admitted that wearing two-piece could be difficult for some people, especially those who are very conservative and those who are not wearing those types of swimwear at all. He stressed that what is making it more uncomfortable for people to wear swimsuits is malice.
“If you’re at the beach, depende sa konteksto ‘yun, eh.” Echo said, as per Bandera. “Kapag binigyan mo ng malisya ‘yung [two-piece swimsuit], then uncomfortable na ‘yung surrounding.”
“But we’re at the beach,” he added. “You’re not gonna wear a suit at the beach. Our costumes sa beach for surfers is board shorts na halos nahuhulog na… But there’s a reason why they were wearing that – you need to be loose pagdating sa surf board.”
Echo would also like to correct the perception that wearing two-piece swimsuits is improper or indecent. He even said that he is willing to wear one if it is needed for a role.
“Whether you have a great body or a normal body, whatever age, you can wear a [two-piece],” the “Siargao” star said. “Kung may role ako na naka-[two-piece], I’d wear it. Kasi taga-beach kami, that’s our uniform – two-piece [swimsuit] and anything.”
Meanwhile, Echo also revealed that he encountered some difficulties during the shoot. According to the actor, he was struggling to concentrate because of their location.
“It’s difficult to do shoot sa island na maganda talaga,” Echo said at the presscon. “It’s hard to focus especially for someone who surfs and enjoys the beach. May distraction talaga na nangyayari.”
Speaking of the film, Erich will play the role of Laura, a brokenhearted video blogger. Jasmine, on the other hand, portrays the character of Abi, a Siargao native and environmental activist.
“Siargao” is directed by highly acclaimed independent filmmaker and actress Toni Gonzaga’s husband, Paul Soriano. It is set to hit the cinemas on Dec. 25, Christmas Day.
