Tropical storm Urduja caused thousands of travelers to be stranded in ports all over the Visayas region since December 15, Friday.

Among those who found themselves stranded are Miss Universe 2017 candidates Lauren Howe from Canada and Samantha James from Malaysia.

Both pageant queens are in Siargao Island for a leisure trip with Philippine candidate Rachel Peters and USA bet Kara McCullough.

Despite the gusty winds and heavy rainfall, both representatives managed to post photos of themselves having fun.

In an Instagram post on Saturday, December 16, James wrote: "So happy to be stranded on Siargao Island. (Due to typhoon) Whoop tee doooooo"

Miss Canada also posted a photo of herself in a poncho standing in the middle of the street during a break in the storm.

Lowe shared that they already had three flights cancelled because of Typhoon Urduja.

But she added that it is not hard to find reasons to smile in the Philippines. She also implored her followers to stay safe especially in the current weather.

Lowe and James both came to the Philippines as part of the Miss Universe 2017 delegation. They were invited by the Department of Tourism for a promotional campaign.

The official trip lasted four days from December 6 to 9.
