- The Office of the Ombudsman suspended the mayor and vice mayor of Asingan, Pangasinan
- Mayor Heidee Chua and Vice Mayor Carlos Lopez Jr are suspended for one year
- The punishment is due to their violation of a DILG memorandum against putting their name and face on government property
Asingan local government top executives face a one-year suspension for displaying their names and faces on government projects and properties.
In a report by GMA's Balita Pilipinas on Friday, December 15, reporter Alfie Tulagan said Mayor Heidee Chua and Vice Mayor Carlos Lopez Jr will be suspended by the Ombudsman.
The decision was a result of the complaint filed by Councilor Evangeline Dorao.
In her complaint, Dorao said Chua and Lopez displayed their names and faces on the newly-acquired ambulances of the city government.
She said they also did this in other government projects including the bags distributed in the public schools.
Dorao announced the decision during a session by the Sangguniang Bayan. She said she received a letter from the Ombudsman about the suspension.
The council, however, will wait for the official memo from the Department of Local and Interior Government.
According to the GMA report, the DILG still hasn't received an official suspension order from the Ombudsman.
If the suspension will take effect, the first ranking councilor will serve as acting mayor.
Chua will give her statement on Monday.
