- Kaci Sullivan gave birth to his first born baby when he was still a woman
- 5 years later, he has given birth to his second baby while living as a man
- He has become the first person in the world to achieve this
A transgender man from Wisconsin, US, has become the first person in the world to give birth while living as both genders.
Kaci Sullivan, 30, gave birth to his first child, Grayson, five years ago while living as a woman. He then started his transition from female to male one year later.
He divorced from his ex-husband and started a relationship with his current partner, 27-year-old Steven.
Kaci conceived his second baby after taking a break from using male hormones. He gave birth to Phoenix in November this year, this time while living as a man.
In an interview, he said:
Because I don't see pregnancy as inherently feminine, and because I don't subscribe to make-believe gender roles, I wasn't threatened by the idea of pregnancy. It didn't make me feel any less masculine.
Kaci added that his children will call him "dad." In addition, the couple plans to raise Phoenix as gender neutral.
This means that they will dress him/her with non-gendered clothes and not assign gender-specific roles until he/she is able to choose the preferred gender.
