Pang-handa sa Noche Buena tumaas ang presyo? DTI releases SRPs of Noche Buena products and conducts supermarkets inspection as Christmas looms

- DTI posted suggested retail price posters for Noche Buena products in various supermarkets

- Government agency inspected supermarkets for products prices compliance

- DTI believed that prices for Noche Buena products will remain stable until the end of the holiday season

As Christmas nears, the Department of Trade and Industry is reminding the consumers to be vigilant in checking the suggested retail prices (SRP) and the expiration date of the products. That’s why the agency has put up posters with SRPs of Noche Buena products in consumer accessible areas in various supermarkets around the metro.

From what KAMI learned, DTI Undersecretary Teodoro “Ted” Pascua and his team inspected several supermarkets in Metro Manila. They checked the prices of condensed milk, cream and fruit cocktail — which are all the main ingredients of the all-time favorite Filipino dessert fruit salad.

According to ABS-CBN News, the prices of the said products are within the SRPs. The DTI team also checked the prices of ham, quezo de bola, chicken, breads, sandwich spreads and mayonnaise are within the price compliance rule (SRP).

The DTI team is also confident that the prices of Noche Buena products will remain stable until the end of the holiday season. If ever establishment and supermarket owners plan to raise the prices of their products, the agency reminded that the price increase should not exceed the SRPs, but it can be lowered down.

“Nasa sa kanila na yun kung iaangat pa nila ng singko o singwenta,” Pascua said. “Basta hindi lalampas sa SRP. Pero pwede ding bababa.”

Meanwhile, stores and establishments are expecting the surge of shoppers as Christmas and New Year celebrations approach. But as Filipinos rush to buy Noche Buena and Media Noche products, DTI is reminding the public to purchase goods that will not yet expire until the holiday feasts.

Several malls in Metro Manila and in the provinces have also extended their mall hours to accommodate more holiday shoppers.
