Davao City Mayor’s youngest son Sebastian “Baste” Zimmerman Duterte already had a townhouse, located in San Juan City, that he could call his own when he was just 13 years old; he is now 28.
The townhouse is located at 386 P. Guevarra Street, Barangay Maytunas, San Juan City. As of 2001, the townhouse had a declared value of at least P1.5 million.
The townhouse has two stories and a total floor area of 222 square meters in a 107 square meter lot. Its first owner, both house and lot, was a certain Eduardo A. Bangayan and was acquired by Baste sometime in 2000.
During this year, now Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte served as congressman for the first district of Davao. He was elected in 1998 after serving three consecutive terms as mayor of the city.
Such townhouse is now the target of news headlines and criticisms as controversies involving the trash-talking mayor continue to surface.
The issue of this particular townhouse was brought about by the documents obtained by the Inquirer showing Mayor Duterte and his daughter Sara Duterte using such address, alongside their Ecoland Subdivision in Davao City, in their BPI joint account. The bank account was said to be opened at a BPI branch in Julia Vargas Avenue in Pasig City.
The abovementioned bank account has been alleged to contain millions of pesos in deposits, according to documents released by Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV.
Baste is a businessman, surfer and musician. He is also a father to a 5-year-old girl and a year-old boy. Baste has a degree in political science from Ateneo de Davao University; however, he is not interested in following the footsteps of his father in politics.
