Basketball player Doug Kramer and former actress, model Cheska Garcia's love story is really inspiring.
It teaches us that no matter how busy we are, or how many children we have, it is possible to maintain a good marriage.
The power couple shares how it is possible:
They have regular "We" time.
Unlike other couples who's date nights and adventures together were put on hold after having kids, Cheska and Doug always puts in on their top priority.
"You really have to find ways to find time. We regularly go out," Cheska said.
"We're surrounded by the kids the whole day and we really like that, but there are also times when it's just the two of us. Even if we can't leave the house, we'll just open a bottle of wine and enjoy it together at home lang while the kids are sleeping. There's still bonding time for the two of us," Doug added.
They work as a team.
We have to make sure that when arguments arise we know that this is temporary, and we don't hate on our partners.
We should acknowledge that you are two different individuals so it's normal to disagree from time to time.
According to Cheska, "Doug and I also have our differences and sometimes we get into each other's nerves, but we don't let these things last long."
"It completely got us closer together. It really bonded us even more. We are more inspired to work. We are more motivated to make sure that our children really grow up in a home where parents are involved in their lives," Doug shared.
They find something to look forward to.
It is also important that both of you are towards one goal and you try to achieve this goals together and as a team.
Cheska just recently finished writing six children books about healthy habits and values.
"Right now the most exciting thing for us as a family is that we're building our dream house. Our family is getting ready for stage two of our adventure," Doug shared.
They give importance to simple gestures.
Doug and Cheska just celebrated their ninth wedding anniversary, and Doug didn't just gave Cheska a necklace. It was well thought out.
"I was thinking about how I could surprise her and make it very memorable, so I had a necklace and pendant done for her. It was a number nine to symbolize our nine years of marriage. We have our three kids so I put pearl beads designating the ages of Kendra, Scarlett and Gavin. There are things that I will always enjoy doing for her—including making moments memorable," Doug explained.
On October 9, 2008 Doug and Cheska finally tied the knot at the Blue Leaf Events Place in McKinley Hill, Taguig City.
The event was attended by closest friends and family.
