Richard Gutierrez is thankful people don't hate him for playing Sandrino

- Richard Gutierrez plays powerful vampire leader Sandrino in ABS-CBN's series "La Luna Sangre"

- The actor is the villain against lead stars Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo

- The new dad is happy that viewers have embraced his character

Richard Gutierrez has found new life as a Kapamilya actor this year, engaging viewers as Supremo, king of the vampires, in ABS-CBN's primetime fantasy "La Luna Sangre".

But while, more often than not, villains have been hated by the Filipino viewing public, Gutierrez's Sandrino Villalobo is a villain you just can't hate. Even though he has evil plans to control the Philippines!

The former Kapuso and Kapatid actor usually plays the main lead or the good guy. This is the first time he played the antagonist.

Gutierrez admitted he's having fun portraying the bad guy for a change. He said it challenges his creativity and lets him show a different side.

"I'm really enjoying it. I'm really happy that people don't hate me as much as they should," said Gutierrez.

He also shared that he re-watched many vampire films to study for the role. But added that it's the open-minded collaboration with directors and co-actors that really created Supremo.
