Initial medical reports say Ana Fe Velasco-Bania died of a heart attack, but when her family received her body in Camarines Sur on November 2, they discovered bruises all over her body.
"My daughter's cadaver has bruises all over her body. That could be the consequence of maltreatment," said Maria Francia Velasco, Ana Fe's mother.
Ana Fe, 38 years old, was a domestic worker in Saudi Arabia since April 2015. She had a 2-year contract to work for Yahya Muhamad Ali Alyami, earning a monthly salary of $400.
But Ana Fe did not work at her employer's household alone. She was also sent by her employer to a family friend to do household chores whenever needed.
This arrangement of serving two households violates her contract, according to her mother.
The family suspects that the bruises on her body were caused by her second employer.
According to Velasco, her daughter told her that her first employer was kind, but the second one was cruel.
KAMI learned about Ana Fe's plight from a report in Rappler.
According to the report, Ana Fe was found dead in the King Khalid Hospital after working for three days for her second employer.
Her first employer waited for her to return after her duty but found out the news she was already dead.
Ana Fe's husband Ferdinand Bania hopes the government could help them file a case.
"If government officials from the Department of Foreign Affairs will help me out, I will pursue the case against the employers of my wife. But, if there's nobody willing to help us, I could not do anything about it because I don't have the capacity to pursue the case," said Ferdinand, who works as a construction laborer.
