"As long as your baby is happy, I think you're doing a good job". Georgina Wilson shares ways on how to be a 'relaxed mom'

Georgina is a first-time mom who've been lauded by netizens for getting back in shape, jetsetting across continents, and managing her businesses while keeping her bundle of joy close by her side.

KAMI learned about this from ABS-CBN Entertainment. Here are some of Georgina's secrets on how she stays sane while juggling her duties as at home and at work.

The secret to being a "relaxed mom" is not to worry too much about the baby, Georgina said.

"Don't be scared because the baby is so much more resilient than you give it credit for," she said.

"Babies really react to your energy as a mother. If you don't want your baby to be worried and nervous, don't be worried and nervous as a mother. As a mom ang daming anxieties in your head, keep it to yourself lang para hindi maramdaman nung baby mo," she added.

True enough, Archie kept his calm during one of his a 3-hour endorsement launch filled with strangers and loud music.

"I really believe that he has a mind of his own. He really does his own thing and I'm just here to guide him. I feel like I was just a vessel for him to come," Georgina told reporters.

Georgina, who is married to British businessman Arthur Burnand, said having a hands-on partner also makes raising a baby a more enjoyable task.

"In fairness to my husband, hands on na hands on siya. Siya 'yung in charge sa washing of bottles. He also changes his diapers," she said.

"I always tell my friends' husbands, 'Learn from my husband. Your wife is always right.' That's the only advice I can give: Your wife is always right. Happy wife, happy life," she said in jest.

Try to be with your baby as much as you can, even if you're a working mom, Georgina said.

"To squat with Arch is like serious business. In New Zealand, I just strapped him to me in a baby carrier, carried him around, went for a hike. Iba yung work out ko," she said.

"I bring him anywhere. I think that will make him stronger growing up. I think that's probably my mothering style," she said.

Women who just gave birth should not be pressured to shed off weight, the top model who admitted to suffering from postpartum said.

"There's a lot of pressure for moms to get back in shape. You have to give your body a chance to breathe. You just created a life," she said.

The "It Girl" said she stopped breastfeeding after 6 months as it was a "painful" endeavour for her.

"My milk supply didn't come in so it's emotionally painful too. I wanted that bond and connection. I know that breastmilk is good for your baby so I really tried my best," Georgina said.

"I was up long nights crying. I would be up in pain crying and my husband will be looking and ask, 'How can I help?' pero wala," she said.

"I realized it's not about me but it's about the baby. So basta Arch is healthy, I should be fine," she said.

Georgina said she was clueless about motherhood during the first few months of her pregnancy, and is still learning the ropes even as Archie is close to celebrating his first birthday.

"All I know is how to dress him up and that's pretty much it. I don't know what toys to give him and stuff," she said laughing.

As a working mom, Georgina admitted she does not have enough time to read parenting books. She said she makes up for it by asking for advice from professionals and other moms, and tailor-fit these tips to her own parenting style.

"I try to stay true to myself as much as possible," she said.

"For the first four months I didn't have a yaya so it was me for every single thing. I had to learn talaga from zero. What I love about that is that now that I do have help, I taught her how to do everything so it's really my style," she added.

Nearly a year after she gave birth, Georgina said one of her key takeaways is that there is "no formula" to being a good mother.

"What is important is everyone respects everyone's mothering styles. If somebody wants to be full-on mom, go for it. If somebody wants to be a career mom, go for it," Georgina said.

"There's a lot of judgement on what's the proper way to be a mother, but as long as your baby is happy, I think you're doing a good job," she said.

KAMI wants to remind moms out there, old or new to always remain calm and that we know you're always doing all your best for your child.
