"Sometimes it's unfair, but it's the reality." Enchong Dee on why being famous is not that great

"Sometimes it's unfair, but it's the reality." Enchong Dee on why being famous is not that great

Apart from being a celebrity, Enchong Dee already tried being a businessman. For the past few years, he invested a franchise of Peri-Peri Charcoal Chicken and Sauce Bars.

KAMI learned this from PEP.ph. At this moment, the Kapamilya actor is now a part-owner of their three branches-SM Megamall, Mandaluyong; Uptown Mall, Bonifacio Global City; and Marquee Mall, Pampanga.

For him, being a businessman and a celebrity doesn't have much difference. With his new business, it also reminds him to keep his feet on the ground.

"The feeling that you should always be on your toes."

"Say, for example, sa restaurants, magkamali ka lang o mayroon lang makitang isang pagkakamali sa food ninyo, yun na ang tatatak sa 'yo"

"Like sa show business, kahit na gaano karami ang kagandahang ginawa mo, kapag nagkamali ka lang, napamura ka lang o napiktyuran ka lang, totally iba na ang tingin sa 'yo ng tao."

"It's the same thing, you should always be on your toes."

Enchong also admitted that sometimes, it hurts that people mostly remember a celebrity's mistake.

"I think lahat ng artista ay guilty doon sa part na yun, kasi siyempre, at the end of the day, we're just employees."

"We're trying our best to stay in the business, to be the best soldier for the company."

"But then again, tumaba ka lang ng kaunti, napamura ka lang sa social media minsan, di ba, parang mamamarkahan ka na, e."

"Sometimes it's unfair, but it's the reality."

The 29-year-old actor also added that it is always a part of the contract celebrities signed.

"You always have to be conscious about your actions, you always have to be accountable for it."

"That's why kapag may lumalapit na mas batang artista, all you can do is to just say na it's the nature of our business."

"It's part of the business that's why you're getting paid."

"The moment you signed that contract, you have that acceptance na yun ang haharapin mo."

When asked what's more difficult, business or showbiz, he chose business. However, Enchong said that whatever path you take you should always think that it is momentary.

Even with a successful business, Enchong doesn't think of retiring in show business anytime soon.

"I don't see myself actually retiring from show business."

"You can slow down a bit but you will always be there."

"If a good movie in the future comes to you, tapos nagustuhan mo, then go for it,"

"In the future, I just don't want to be on my knees begging for work, di ba?"

"Parang yung 80 years old na ako pero nagmamakaawa pa rin ako na, 'Bigyan ako ng trabaho, kailangan ko ng pagkain.'"

"I don't mean anything sa sinabi ko, pero it's the reality."

"We saw that kind of reality with stars before, and yet they have to work even at the age of 70 or 60 years old."

"Dapat hindi na. Dapat you're enjoying life," he said.

KAMI wants to remind you that there are no permanent in this world. You should always enjoy things while you still have them.
