Man arrested for refusing to stand during national anthem

A man in Clark, Pampanga was arrested for not standing for the national anthem played in the cinema.

Bayle Einstein Gonzales, 20 years old, was reprimanded by Charge D'Affaires to Iraq Elmer Cato, who was in the same cinema.

According to the report, Cato asked Gonzales to stand up twice. However, Gonzales refused and continued to eat popcorn.

Cato seeked police assistance after the movie and had Gonzales arrested. Gonzales denied the allegations.

If proven true, Gonzales have violated the Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines. The fine is P5,000 to P20,000, and jail time for as long as one year.
