Alab Pilipinas won over Gilas Pilipinas, 81-76, in their closed-door tune-up game Saturday at the Meralco Gym.

Coached by former Gilas player Jimmy Alapag, Alab is preparing for the ASEAN Basketball League season-opener game against defending champion Hong Kong on November 19 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Alab debuted in the regional league last year and placed third over-all.
The friendly match is the first and only exhibition game for Gilas before its first games in the FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers.
Gilas fielded an all-local set against Alab. Among those who played are Jayson Castro, June Mar Fajardo, Calvin Abueba, Gabe Norwood, Matthew Wright, Allein Maliksi, Kiefer Ravena, RR Pogoy, Mac Belo, Troy Rosario, Carl Bryan Cruz, Raymond Almazan, and Kevin Alas.
The national team will play against Japan in Tokyo on November 24. After that, they will go head to head with Taipei at the Araneta Coliseum on November 27.
According to reports, Gilas will have a 3-day isolated session in Tagaytay in preparation for the FIBA qualifiers.
