Winwyn Marquez: First Filipina crowned as Reina Hispanoamericana 2017

Teresita Ssen "Winwyn" Marquez, daughter of Actress/ Politician Alma Moreno and Veteran Actor Joey Marquez, was crowned Reina Hispanoamericana 2017 Saturday night in La Paz, Bolivia. (Sunday Morning, November 5 in the Philippines)

KAMI learned from ABS-CBN News that Winwyn stood out among 26 contestants.

She succeeded Maria Camila Soleibe of Colombia.

'ReinaTeresita' as she calls herself on Instagram, is the first Filipina who joined the competition and she's the first Asian who won the title.

In the Q&A portion, the PH bet was asked how she would promote the Hispanic-American culture with the great difficulty or of Language barrier.

She confidently answered, “Language can be learned but the will and determination to contribute to the organization cannot. It has to come from the heart. It has to be natural. I believe that kindness is a universal language that if you treat people with tolerance, patience and love, you will understand each other.”

She also added: “The Hispanic culture is not about language only. It’s about love for God, love for country, love for history and culture and love for family. As a Filipina with a unique heritage, I have instilled that. I am ready to promote the Hispanic culture not just in Asia but in the whole world. It is time to celebrate the Hispanic culture. It is meant to be celebrated,”

Even in the pre-pageant competition, Winwyn already won Special awards.

Before her big event she posted on Instagram a picture of her holding the Philippine flag and already thanking the Filipinos for their undying support.

Winwyn is also the niece of the former Miss International Melanie Marquez.

KAMI would like to Thank Winwyn Marquez for making the Filipinos proud.

Congratulations Winwyn!
