Members of GMA News and Public Affairs released a statement regarding Mocha Uson’s accusation that they have reported fake news about her on September 12.
KAMI learned about GMA’s response to Mocha from PEP.ph.
Mocha was referring to GMA’s report about her selfie inside a mosque in Marawi City while wearing boots and without wearing hijab.
GMA News responded by pointing out that the report was based on a quote from ARMM Assemblyman Zia Alonto Adiong, who slammed Mocha’s alleged behavior inside the mosque.
Here is the official statement from GMA Network:
“It was clear in GMA News' report that we were quoting ARMM Assemblyman Zia Alonto Adiong who criticized PCOO Asec Mocha Uson for entering a mosque in Marawi with her boots on and for taking a selfie inside.
“GMA later carried Asec. Uson's apology for not removing her shoes, her explanation that their entry to the mosque was unplanned as they were forced to do so when fighting intensified, and her denial that she took a selfie.
“With all due respect to Asec. Uson, there is no fake news here.
“We in GMA News and Public Affairs hold ourselves to a high standard of accurate and factual reporting and we will continue to do so in the name of Serbisyong Totoo.”
KAMI is hoping that the truth will prevail in this controversial issue!
