The entire committee of the governing Liberal Party (LP) in Zambales abandoned standard-bearer Manuel Roxas II to support Sen. Grace Poe.
However, Zambales LP members are still in full support of vice presidential bet Leni Robredo along with LP's senatorial bets
LP's contenders for political positions in 11 of the 13 towns, and 7 entrants for provincial board members, are ditching Roxas because of the decision he made to support LP's rival faction, headed by re-electionist Governor Hermogenes Ebdane.
The following LP members have signed a 3-page manifesto on Thursday, all in favor of Poe:
Provincial Board candidates:
Resty Viloria (Castillejos)
Juan Alvez (San Antonio)
Adonis Ramos (San Narciso)
Jun Pangan (Cabangan)
Rogelio Yap (Botolan)
Ad Hebert Deloso (Iba)
Milagros Guatlo (Palauig)
Arsenyang Lim (Masinloc)
Gilbert Hermoso (Candelaria)
Angel Maestre (Sta. Cruz)
Francisco Rosete Jr (San Felipe)
The aforementioned candidates and vice mayor and councilor had also signed the manifesto.
Highlighted in the manifesto is the "brutal insult to the long-time arduous crusade in seeking the ideals of ‘Daang matuwid’ and a vicious mockery of painful struggles and sacrifices" when Roxas decided to support LP’s political opponents.
Gubernatorial aspirant Amor Deloso – LP's standard-bearer in Zambales, expressed that when Roxas endorsed his opponent (Ebdane), it eventually became a neglect and ruin to the local environment through mining operations that have put local districts at high risk.
“That is an insult to the dignity of my people in Zambales. Kaya ako lumipat at suportahan ang alam kong may malasakit sa aking bayan and that is Sen. Grace Poe,” he said.
(That is the reason why I am transferring my adherence and support to someone who has real concern for the nation.)
