Senator Tito Sotto slammed CHR Chairman Chito Gascon as his nephew, Pasig City Councilor Vico Sotto, spoke out against the P1,000 budget for the CHR in 2018.
KAMI learned about their opposing views from PEP.ph.
According to Senator Tito Sotto, Gascon should stop constantly criticizing President Rodrigo Duterte’s war on crime.
“Ang kasabihan goes: If you work for an institution or you're with an institution, speak well of it. Otherwise, resign then... Ganun dapat.
“Stop hitting the war ondrugs. Go for the incidents.
"Huwag mong bintangan yung umbrella ng presidente dahil policy ng presidente yun, e. Kung gusto mo, mag-presidente ka, e, palitan mo yung policy…"
"Siguro naman dapat mag isip-isip na si Chairman na siya ang nagiging balakid dun sa entire commission."
On the other hand, Vico Sotto said that CHR is underappreciated by many people.
“I think most people don't understand the value of the CHR... PERO MGA CONGRESSMEN KAYO EH ANO BA ANG GUSTO NYONG MANGYARI SA BANSA NATIN…”
“In case this becomes a reality for 2018, I will donate a fixed % of my monthly salary to the CHR (assuming it's legal for me to do so).”
