Prince Rivero, a varsity basketball player for De La Salle University, offended some fans of Nadine Lustre after comparing the photo of his mom with that of the actress.
KAMI learned about the controversy from Fashion Pulis.
His first tweet was his photo with Nadine Lustre.
The second tweet was his photo with his mom with a caption that read: “Better than my photo with Nadine”
Some of Nadine’s fans were outraged that Prince said that the photo of his mom was better than his photo with Nadine.
After learning about the outrage, the basketball player apologized.
“Oh no. Now ko Lang na open twitter ko. Sorry sa lahat ng affected. Wrong choice of words Lang po. I'm just trying to be sweet sa mom ko,” he posted.
However, there were netizens who defended Prince, saying that there was nothing wrong with his tweet and that the outraged fans were just overreacting and being too sensitive.
Nanay niya yun eh”
Although he shouldn't have used the girl's name for comparison, wala namang naka tag. Bakit sobrang affected.”
“Haaaay mga fans! No matter how much u idolize ur idols, syempre your mum/dad or any loved one will always come first! Kaloka kayo nothing wrong with his tweet. He did not even bash your super idol.”
“What's wrong with the tweet?!
Wala namang masamang ibig sabihin yung tweet nya. Masyado affected.
KAMI admires Prince for being affectionate towards his mom and for being humble enough to say sorry even if he did not mean to offend anybody!
