- Winwyn Marquez participated in the 2017 Miss World Philippines
- Her dad, Joey Marquez, admitted that he did not want her to join the pageant
- He explained that he wanted his daughter to focus more on her studies
Joey Marquez has revealed that he did not like the idea of his daughter Winwyn Marquez joining Miss World Philippines for various practical reasons.
KAMI learned about Joey’s revelations from PUSH.
According to Joey, he preferred that Winwyn would focus more on her studies instead of the beauty pageant.
"Actually, isa ako sa umaawat sa kanya na huwag na muna sana, kasi mas gusto ko na makapag PhD muna siya para sa edukasyon muna niya kasi ang edukasyon nakatatak yan eh,” Joey admitted.
However, he is now very supportive of her daughter since she really wanted to be a beauty queen.
“Pero ganun pa man gusto niya sumali e ‘di sige kasi desisyon naman niya yun at pangarap niya yun.
"Oo naman all out support pa din kami sa kanya, pero sabi ko sa kanya after this ang gusto ko naman ang gawin mo, at gagawin naman daw niya.”
Joey also spoke about Winwyn’s mother, Alma Moreno.
"Si Ness medyo excited pa nga e, ako din naman excited pero ang sabi ko lang sa kanya 'Hindi mo naman kailangan maging beauty queen,' dahil sa akin kasi pinaka maganda na siya," the loving father said.
The Miss World PH was held on September 3. Laura Lehmann of Makati City bagged the crown while Winwyn was named as the Reina Hispano America Filipinas, according to PEP.ph.
