- Senator Antonio Trillanes IV once again lambasted President Duterte
- This time, he criticized Duterte’s visit to Kian Delos Santos’ parents
- He accused Duterte’s visit as a gimmick to bring down the negativity against his war on crime
Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, one of the most vocal critics of President Rodrigo Duterte, once again blasted the President, this time for his visit to Kian Loyd Delos Santos’ parents.
KAMI learned about his comments from GMA News.
According to the senator, the President only visited Kian’s parents in order to decrease the public’s negativity against his war on crime.
"It's a damage-control measure pero (but) too bad for them (they were caught because the initial instinct of Duterte was to hide) nahuli sila kasi ang initial instinct ni Duterte ay magtago, so it took them more than a week bago nila naisip na ganito 'yung magandang gimik (before they thought that this was a good gimmick).
“Pero gimik lang 'yan (But it is just a gimmick),” Trillanes said.
He also slammed the Duterte camp for allegedly telling Kian’s parents to do the famous Duterte fist sign during their photo op.
"Medyo tasteless lang 'yung fist gesture. Very tasteless 'yun, kung sinuman 'yung nagsabi noon, ano ba, nagluluksa yung pamilya eh gagamitin mo for that? Pero I hope alam nung mga magulang na namatay si Kian Delos Santos dahil kay Duterte, dahil sa polisiya…”
(The fist gesture was quite tasteless. It was very tasteless, whoever told them to do that. The family was grieving and you would use them for that? But I hope that the parents know that Kian Delos Santos died because of Duterte, because of the police.)
However, Trillanes said that he respects the decision of Kian’s parents to put their trust in the President.
KAMI is hoping that justice would be served in this tragedy!
