A physicist from Manila was crowned as Mis sPhilippines Earth 2017 in the recently held pageant at the Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay City.
Karen Ibasco, 26, stood out among 39 other candidates and reigned victorious in the said pageant.
During the question and answer portion,Karen was asked about the change she wanted to see when it comes to national environment policies.
She impressively answered:
“In terms of environmental policies, everyone is experiencing climate change. The whole world is experiencing climate change and I’m just grateful that the Philippines signed the Paris Treaty. What I want to see is to pass a carbon tax. In that way, we would invest in renewable energy to help our world be a better place, greener and habitable for the whole humanity.”
Other title holders are Jessica Marasigan (Caloocan City), Miss Philippines-Water; Vanessa Mae Castillo (Lobo, Batangas), Miss Philippines Eco-Tourism; Kim de Guzman (Olongapo City), Miss Philippines Air; and Nellza Bautista (Villanueva, Misamis Oriental),Miss Philippines-Fire.
Karen will represent the country in the Miss Earth 2017 pageant to be held also at the Mall of Asia Arena this coming November.
