KAMI learned from The News Journal that 41-year old Mariebel Osorio, cash unit head of Union Bank of the Philippines in Ortigas branch, Pasig City has been stealing for the past 8 years.
The arrest started when Mariebel suspiciously transferred P17,029,000 from Ortigas Cash Center to Caloocan Cash Center.
Vincent Paul Castillo Union Bank’s Cash Service Group Head immediately informed the police when they have noticed inconsistences in the cash report of Mariebel.
According to Sr. Supt. Yebra Orlando, Pasig City Police Station chief, there was a successful cash transfer (just figures) but without the actual cash on hand.
“Nagkwenta ’yung mga auditors, may mga discrepancies sa kanyang cash report. May report ng cash transfer pero figure lang wala mismo ’yung cash.”
Since then, authorities have been observing her since she has full access to the bank’s fund.
Mariebel is now facing charge of qualified theft and is currently detained in Pasig City Police Station.
