KAMI learned that while Zamboanga port officials were checking the bag of one man who was on his way to Basilan, they saw through the xray machines what was inside one of his luggage, they had to apprehend him.
They found what appeared to be the body of a child, the port officials on duty during that time said they thought they were only tired when they saw the figure come up as the bag passed through the baggage scanner.
However, when all of them saw the same thing, they immediately had to apprehend the man and check his belongings.
The bag belonged to a 33-year-old man named Alex Insana who was on his way to board a boat on the way to Basilan and when they questioned Insana, he said that his aunt, Andah Kabulot, gave birth to the stillborn baby.
He wasn’t able to mention any other details but he claimed that Kabulot authorized him to take the child and bring it home to their province so that it may receive the proper Muslim burial rites.
When the authorities asked him why he had to stuff the infant inside the bag, he said he “failed” to secure the paperwork for the child’s transport and that the child was declared dead upon being born at Zamboanga City Medical Center.
The officials then called Insana’s cousin to confirm if he was telling the truth. A relative then appeared at the airport and showed the authorities the baby’s death certificate which prompted them to release Insana.
