KAMI stumbled across this inspiring story of this young woman she redefined the meaning of beauty.
In the world we live in, beauty is defined by having smooth hair, flawless skin and perfect features . This girl wanted to make a change.
The 20-year old girl is half Rungus, half Filipino named Evita was born to have moles around her body. a rare condition known as ‘Giant Congenital Melanocytic Nevus’.
She was always bullied because of her appearance where everybody in school thinks that she is a monster.
“In primary school, no one wanted to be friends with me. I remember a teacher having to ask two girls to accompany me during recess, and they were whispering ‘why do we have to treat her like a princess?’, She remembered
“It broke my heart. I told them that they don’t have to follow me and they went off immediately. Basically, I was a lonely girl,” she said.
However, it somehow changed when she went to high school. She shared that she somehow got friends that accepted her appearance and got along with her.
“I learnt to accept my birthmarks and love myself. I slowly gained confidence to show off my uniqueness and I started to be more active by joining singing competitions. My friends realised my changes and they supported me,” she said.
Today, she is now an aspiring beauty queen who pursues her dreams to change that standards of beauty. She is still no sure if she will be able to get in the competition but she is still positive on whatever may happen in the future.
“I’m just keeping my fingers crossed. If I don’t get through, there’s always another platform,” said optimistic Evita.
