This Thomasian dean made good on his promise to send his 86 new lawyers to an unforgettable class trip.
Rafael Lorenz Santos, one of the lucky Bar exam passers, took to Twitter to share their memorable adventure.
KAMI scooped this story from When In Manila.
The law school dean of the University of Sto. Tomas promised to bring his Bar passers to a 3-day trip to Boracay, on the premise that they did good on the exam, placed as topnotchers, and have a 100% passing rate.
This pledge was made during the group’s send-off ceremonies last November.
Despite falling short of the goal by 5%, and having only 86 passers out of their 112 takers, Faculty of Civil Law’s Dean Nilo Divina still followed through on his promise, after the new attorneys, in true lawyer fashion, “appealed” to their dean.
As Rafael puts it,
During our testimonial dinner, one of our batchmates petitioned Dean Nilo Divina to push through with the Bora trip. All of a sudden, CA Justice Amy Javier, also a professor in the Faculty of Civil Law, stood up, took the mic and ordered Dean Divina to grant our petition. In no uncertain words, Dean Divina stated, “Petition granted!”
Aside from the trip, they all got to take home a Parker pen each, care-of their dean, plus P5,000 cash.
